There are no strangers here, just friends we haven't met yet .........

Dear all

Welcome to the electronic version of our church. As the minister of the church I was foolishly entrusted with the task of letting you know what we are like. It would be very easy to give you a cliched picture of a warm welcoming family friendly church that is accessible to all; and all that would be utterly true - and exactly what I hope that you would expect from a church. It would though give you no idea of the poetic contradiction and wonderful wit that is Sidwell Street Methodist.

Firstly we are housed, as I hope you will see from pictures on the rest of the site, in a building that defies explanation. A towering dome of acoustic excellence, an organ that I am pretty convinced is the creation of the phantom of the opera, and generally the most extravagant Methodist Church I have ever attended.

You might get some idea of that from pictures, but what you can't experience electronically is the sheer breadth and diversity of people that make this a church. The Methodist mantra is "ALL are welcome here," and we take that very seriously. What we share is a sense of humour, an enthusiasm for food, and a joy in the love of Christ shared in fellowship.

Don't take my word for it. Come and join us for a meal or a service and get a better idea of this community.

There are no strangers here, just friends we haven't met yet......

Love and God bless
Andrew
